Card meaning
Upright - while the clay is in the kiln you cannot see the colour. What today's work is worth is known after opening.
Reversed - open the kiln too often and no colour comes at all.
The tale
Goryeo celadon is the blue-green stoneware fired in the Goryeo period.
The inlay technique carves the surface and fills it with another clay to make a pattern.
Clouds and cranes, peonies and willows appear often.
Large kiln sites remain at Gangjin in South Jeolla and Buan in North Jeolla.
Celadon can be seen at the National Museum of Korea.
