Reversed - the moment a red patch is sewn on the cap, everything shows.
The tale
A man obtains a cap that makes the wearer invisible.
He wears it and takes other people's goods.
The cap tears and is patched with red cloth.
To everyone else a piece of red cloth is seen floating along.
He is caught that way and loses the cap.
