Pharmacies and basic medicine

Pharmacies are marked with the single character "약" (yak). At night, convenience stores carry basic medicine.

A set of basic medicines — fever reducers, cold medicine, digestive aids, pain-relief patches — is sold in convenience stores around the clock.
Most other medicine comes from pharmacies. Prescription drugs require a doctor's prescription.
Pharmacies open at night and on holidays are listed on the Korean Pharmaceutical Association's official search (pharm114.or.kr).
If you take regular medication, carry its ingredient name in English — that makes it easy for the pharmacist to find the same compound.
