Sipjangsaeng, the Ten Longevity Symbols

Card meaning

Upright - ten long-lasting things gather in one picture. This is not a matter to finish fast but one to keep.

Reversed - the picture needs all ten. Keeping only one for a long time is not patience but neglect.

The card meanings are a game.

The tale

Sipjangsaeng means ten things held to live long.

They are sun, mountain, water, stone, cloud, pine, the herb of long life, turtle, crane and deer.

The list differs a little between records.

They were painted on folding screens and embroidered, and used on ceramics.

They also appear in palace decoration.
