How trash works here

Waste separation is strict, and street trash cans are rare.

General waste goes only into designated pay-per-volume bags, sold at convenience stores and supermarkets.
Plastic, cans, glass, and paper are collected separately. Every accommodation posts its own separation instructions — follow those.
Trash cans are rare on the street — use the bins at subway stations or outside convenience stores, or carry it back to your accommodation.
Disposable café cups go on the return shelf inside the shop.
Dumping trash anywhere else carries a fine.
