*The following festival details are from the previous year (2025) and the 2026 festival details are currently being updated.* The Jinju Namgang Yudeung (Lantern) Festival originated from the practice of floating lanterns on the Namgang River during the Imjin War (Japanese invasions of 1592–1598) to block the enemy from crossing the river and to send messages of safety to families. It was a representative festival of Korea designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and has been selected as a Korea Global Growth Festival for five consecutive years, making it a premium festival expanding onto the global stage.
