Mechenwat Forest Trail is a place in Hannam-ri, Seogwipo-si, where visitors can enjoy vast ranches, grasslands, and primeval forests all at once. 'Meche' refers to a place where stones are piled up haphazardly and overgrown with underbrush, while 'wat' means field in the Jeju dialect; the compound 'Mechenwat' comes from the fact that this area consists of fields made of stone. To the left of the Neoyeongnayeong Tree, one of the representative sights of Mechenwat Forest Trail, stone walls run along the ranch. The Mechenwat Forest Trail course begins right along these stone walls. Walking along the forest path, visitors can see the Mechenwat Old House Site, a grove of hinoki cypress trees, and the Seojungcheon Observatory. Mechenwat Forest Trail can also be enjoyed with a guide accompanying you on the trek. Additionally, after finishing the trek, visitors can stop by a café for a cup of tea and experience a hinoki foot bath.
